About (us)
THAYLOR is a creative community. An online city comprised of artists, athletes, writers, musicians and creative thinkers from diverse backgrounds the world over. We are the gallery, the local newspaper, the atelier and the coffee shop where we meet and share thoughts, challenges, ideas, and from time to have a good laugh.
Life
We invite you to have a look at our LIFE and get inspired. It’s constantly updated with new stories and really is the lifeblood of what we are trying to do around here. Join our Twitter feed or Facebook page to stay on top of our regular updates.
All the stories and artwork and projects you see in our LIFE section come from our group of contributors. The contributors are our staff, friends, family and gatekeepers that keep this community called THAYLOR alive and moving forward. Please check out all their bio’s and follow the links to their respective sites. What you see from them here is a small piece of what they do on a day to day basis and they deserve your attention.
Market
A city without a good market is a suburb. We see our market as a direct reflection of what we’re doing in LIFE and as such the products we choose are pretty close to our hearts. There’s a great mix and we add new things on a regular basis. We are very particular about the brands and the people we work with. We appreciate good, creative, independent ideas that are well crafted and designed with a respect for the environment and everybody involved in the process of bringing the product to life.
Thaylor Products
We craft THAYLOR product based on timeless design, performance, old age thinking and modern know how.
We make a line of basics. Some T’s, a really nice hooded sweatshirt and some cut and sew pieces. Like everything else, we see these few pieces as a start. They are the foundation to a larger collection that we’ve already started working on. We try to make our goods as close to home as possible so we can more easily oversee the sampling and production and cut down on our carbon footprint. Less distance + less shipping costs + less travel time = Easier all around, and it keeps things moving in our local economy, which we see as a good thing. We’re not against working with companies and factories and countries abroad, there are good things happening the world over, but for now we’re keeping it local. We work with quality fabrics, some really nice finishings and an attention to detail without over design. It’s all designed to live in. The fits are dialed, the fabrics comfortable and the look is clean and versatile for everyday in the city or your getaway outdoors.
We work with other companies that we respect to bring some Thaylor branded products to market that we would not be able to do on our own. Let’s not call them “double labels” so much as collaborations, a sharing of ideas.
Thaylor & 1% for the Planet
We don’t consider ourselves “environmentalists”. We are people who live here, on earth, with no real option but to take care of what’s been given to us. It’s easy to get apathetic and let this kind of thing slide but as people who live in cities, but often escape to our roots outside the city (we all have roots outdoors), we can’t sidestep the fact that whatever we do has an effect. Our involvement in 1% for the Planet is a little action among other little actions that we hope add up to a healthy future.
1% for the Planet was founded to build and support an alliance of businesses financially committed to creating a healthy planet. Thaylor is a member of this alliance. 1% is a growing global movement of nearly 1500 companies that donate 1% of their sales to a network of close to 2500 environmental organizations worldwide. Have a look at their site and get involved.
