In this short film by Kate Hemming & Andrew Sheppard we see a local citizens' group fighting a US-based hedge fund company, The Highlands Companies, and their application to mine for limestone in the traditionally agricultural Township of Melancthon, Ontario. The proposed mega quarry would be the second largest in North America and the largest in Canada, roughly the size of the city of Toronto. Watch and then follow the links to learn more.

The Alena Ancestor was inspired by the early skateboard craftsman. That kid in the garage with an old piece of wood and his dad's tools. These are solid maple boards, with J. Thaylor hand drawn graphics on the base and inlaid banding on the top surface as well as a wedge block kicktail in mahogany. Summer is here. Go get one.
